It’s great to be a Michigan Wolverine! My dad, stepmom and I are all huge fans.  We usually fly to Michigan every fall for games, but it was the third football game ever between Michigan and Rutgers, which joined the Big 10 in 2014The game was Saturday, Oct. 8 at High Points Solution Stadium in Piscataway, New Jersey – only around an hour from Manhattan – so of course, we got tickets!  Right now Michigan is 6-0 under second-year coach Jim Harbaugh and they are the fourth best team in the country. Go Blue!

We parked in a parking lot far away and rode a shuttle bus to and from the stadium.  When we got there, dad, my stepmom Patricia, and dad’s friend Doug put on our ponchos and sat down for a rainy first quarter.  Dad wouldn’t let me take off my poncho even though I begged. He finally let me take it off when the rain stopped.  Thanks, dad!

Watching the game was fun,  we also saw dad’s other friends there: Josh, Jeff, Brittany, and Arielle.  I ate nachos, a hot dog and cotton candy.  I was so thirsty after the nachos that dad had to get me another $4 water.  Thanks again, dad!

The best part of the game was when Rutgers THOUGHT they got a touchdown, but it was a fake, so the whole entire game they scored ZERO points.  Michigan got 78 points…like I said, “It’s great to be a Michigan Wolverine!”

The 78 points scored was the third most in Michigan football history, which goes back 135 seasons to 1879.  Michigan’s 78-0 defeat of Rutgers on Saturday night ranks as the second-largest road win by a ranked team in the poll era (1936-present), according to ESPN Stats & Info research.  Michigan tied its school record with nine rushing touchdowns in the game.  Go Blue!
I was surprised that there were so many Michigan fans there. We thought there would be mostly Rutgers fans.  There were so many of us singing the theme song and all the other Michigan chants.  That part is so fun, even if you don’t understand the game you would have fun just seeing the band at halftime and learning the chants.
I was so tired on the way home that I passed out in the car.  I loved every minute of my first Michigan football game right here, close to home in New Jersey.  Hail to the Victors!
