The Mom here! It’s World Oceans Day today and what a perfect time for the Dopper Foundation to unveil its Plastic Bridge interactive art installation, in collaboration with National Geographic Encounter: Ocean Odyssey and National Geographic’s Planet or Plastic? multiyear initiative. The goal is to turn the tide on plastics in the world’s oceans, to reduce the use of disposable plastic water bottles, and to provide access to safe drinking water for all.

Built with thousands of single-use plastic water bottles and measuring 30 feet wide by 11 feet tall, this plastic replica of the Brooklyn Bridge kicks off the Dopper Foundation’s global Plastic Bridge Project, an educational initiative that raises awareness about the harmful impact of plastic pollution in our world’s water sources. Since children are the next generation of environmental changemakers, the goal of the Plastic Bridge Project is to ultimately inspire 20,000 children around the world to step into a lifestyle that is free of single-use plastic water bottles within the next five years. What a great project! I can’t wait to take Waverly to see this installation and hope you take your kids, too…let’s work together to save our oceans and our environment and say no to single use plastics!
Join John Campbell, Senior Vice President Global Media of National Geographic Partners; New York State Senator Brad Holyman; Mark Chambers, Director of the NYC Mayor’s Office of Sustainability; Lisa Truitt, Chief Creative Officer of SPE Partners; Merijn Everaarts, Founder & Owner of Dopper Foundation in taking the pledge to say goodbye to single-use water bottles, not just today, but every day!
