I got this!

My Day at Madame Tussauds
by Waverly Winchester, 8 years old
Manhattan

This weekend I got to hang out with President Obama and Michelle, Hillary Clinton, Katy Perry, Spiderman, Justin Timberlake, and Beyonce!  Oh…and also the Queen of England!  And much more! Like I always say, it’s Kool to be the Kiditor!   But guess what? You don’t have to be the Kiditor in Chief at kidsnewsnyc.com to go hang out with them, just go to Times Square and find your way to Madame Tussauds!  You can hang out with all of them and more also.

My mom and I always wanted to go check it out but we have been so busy at all the other places we review that we never had a chance!   We were lucky enough to get the chance, though, when I got picked by Time Out NY Kids Magazine to go on a playdate with another kid who I never met before, and they were sending us to Madame Tussauds! I was a tiny bit nervous but also super excited!  Her name was Alice and that’s literally the only thing I knew about her!  I met her right after I took this picture outside:

Someone needs to brush his teeth!

We met in the lobby and we were only shy with each other for around 2 seconds.  She even had the exact same cheetah hat that I have, only I didn’t wear it that day, that would have been so funny!  Here is a picture of me and Alice:

Hi, Alice!

Now that I had a friend, I was ready to explore Madame Tussauds, and there was SO MUCH TO EXPLORE!  Room after room filled with famous people and movie sets, I couldn’t believe it.  And guess what? You ARE allowed to touch pretty much everything!  We were running around every room, goofing around and taking pictures and pretending we were actually part of all of the scenes, it was so fun! (The Mom here – I was terrified that Waverly was going to knock something over until I was told that everything is rooted into the floor very securely.  Whew!)

I honestly don’t know where else in the whole world that you could do all that we did in just one day.  Check these pictures out, you’ll see what I mean!  foto_no_exif-109

foto_no_exif-111My favorite part wasThe Ghostbusters experience where you go down the subway and it is just like a real NYC Subway…but with a couple of spooky parts (they are not that bad, I swear)!  You could look inside these machines and see the ghosts that were trapped and even press a button and catch a ghost yourself, very cool! Honestly, though, all the rooms were fun and each one had a different theme.  Sports, superheroes, movie stars, famous singers, presidents and ghosts!  Madame Tussauds is way more than wax!  It’s definitely a fun and unique way to spend a day.
