Introducing food for kids, BY kids at Great Wolf Lodge!
by Waverly W., 10 years old (and Mom, 49 years old!)
The Mom here! Great Wolf Lodge’s Junior Chef Council unveiled its inaugural menu last Thursday night during a very special event at De Gustibus Cooking School in New York City.  We were lucky enough to get a look – but more importantly, a taste –  of what these kids have been cooking up since the announcement of the Jr. Chef Council earlier this summer.  There’s a brand new  menu that will be rolled out across Wolf Lodge locations later this fall.  Great Wolf Lodge’s Junior Chef Council was created as a way to provide Great Wolf’s youngest guests with an innovative and delicious kids menu, created for kids, by kids.  Take it from us, this is NOT your average kids’ menu….and these are not your average chefs.

The seven-member Junior Chef Council brings a diverse culinary background to Great Wolf, and worked together on developing a completely new and innovative kids menu. Who are these awesome, talented kid chefs? They include MasterChef Junior Season 2 winner, Logan Guleff (16) and MasterChef Junior Season 5 winner, Jasmine Stewart (13); Jonas Cora Ehrlich (12) and Gavin Cora Ehrlich (10), sons of Iron Chef Cat Cora and wife, Nicole Cora Ehrlich; Madeline Zakarian (11) and Anna Zakarian (9), daughters of Iron Chef Geoffrey Zakarian; and Conrad Elliot (8) and Jed Elliot (6), sons of Chef Graham Elliot.  (While Conrad is an official member of the Council, Jed will serve as the Council’s official taster, ensuring his brother and other members are delivering on the culinary goods.). We also served as “tasters” that night, and we were incredibly impressed.  Yum.

Waverly here! Everywhere you go, the kids’ menu is usually exactly the same.  Mac and Cheese, Grilled Cheese, Pasta with Sauce or Butter, Cheeseburger….but it’s not the same at Great Wolf Lodge! Their brand new kids’ menu makes the usual favorites come to life in a very fun, unique and DELICIOUS way! Who doesn’t love Mac and Cheese? But guess what – you’ll love it even MORE when it’s a Macaroni and Cheese PANCAKE that comes with the most yummy and tender meat you have ever tasted!

My mom and I were both like, OMG this is sooooooooooooooo goooooooooooood!! Watching Logan, who is self-taught, and Conrad, who is really funny as well as talented, cook the dish made it even more fun! They said that they wanted to make kids’ meals less boring and more fun. Mission accomplished, guys!
Next up we tried Jonas and Gavin’s unbelievably yummy Waffle Grilled Cheese and Tomato Soup.  Yep, I said WAFFLE Grilled Cheese.  Bits of maple brown sugar bacon and cheese grilled in a waffle iron make this dish a crispy, chewy, bacony, double yummy meal that came with the best tomato soup I ever ate! I sure wish my mom was a famous chef… (Mom here – Sorry, kid.  Maybe in your next life? This was the first time I’ve ever witnessed my kid actually eat an entire bowl of tomato soup!! Definitely a double-yum!)

Ready for more? How about Green Spaghetti and Chicken Meatballs? While Jasmine was cooking this we could all smell how good it was going to taste….and we could not wait to try it!

Jasmine, who is into female empowerment and even started her own hashtag, #letyourinnergirlslay,    wanted to incorporate healthy veggies into a pasta dish.  Another mission accomplished!  Paired with the most delicious chicken meatballs in the world made by Logan, this was another double yum that will really make it hard for me to choose what to eat when I visit Great Wolf Lodge someday! Guess we will have to stay a while….the pasta was so flavorful and perfectly cooked, and the zucchini noodles were just the right crunch level.  You can see the dish by scrolling up to my author pic!
Ready for the most yummy, gooey deliciousness in the whole world? Then get ready for Peppermint Smores, made by Madeline and Anna!

These were just….perfect.  They looked almost too good to eat!  But, hey, I had a job to do…

Just kidding of course, I could not wait to dig in!  Check out what these two sister chefs created – you can almost taste how awesome this dessert was, I bet – but let me tell you, you HAVE to try them (and all the other dishes) for yourself to really know how amazing everything tastes! I’m sure by now you agree with me – MUST. GO. TO. GREAT. WOLF. LODGE. NOW. For the waterpark, mini golf, bowling, MagiQuest, and all the fun kid stuff…and also for the food!! Great job, Great Wolf Lodge!

Who can resist this? Not even mom, who tries to stay away from sugar…but practically licked the plate!
Mom here again – OK, yes, I wanted to lick the plate! Believe me, you will, too.  I often wish I were a kid again, but never because of the kids’ menus! Great Wolf Lodge’s Junior Chef Council has officially changed that! Yes, Great job, Great Wolf Lodge, and all the Junior Chefs and everyone involved in this awesome tasting event!

I’m hoping for a cookbook next…I have got to learn how to make these dishes! Hmm, maybe it’s time to pay a visit to De Gustibus Cooking School.

The new kids’ menu will initially be featured exclusively at full-service restaurants at Great Wolf Lodges across North America. In addition, the restaurant kitchens at Great Wolf Lodge are completely nut-free, easing concerns of parents who have children with nut allergies.
