Poem by Waverly W., 8 years old, Manhattan

A little boy tying his shoes
A man on the street playing the blues

People on the street selling fruit
A man walking in a fancy suit

Teenagers texting and looking on phones
People licking ice cream and biting cones

Boys and girls rolling on skates
Adults watching movies with their mates

It might seem kind of plain
From shoe selling stores to subway trains

But what I realize as I ponder
It’s really a city full of wonder
