Kid Review of Tall Stories of London’s The Gruffalo: Live On Stage
at BMCC Tribeca PAC by William M., 6 years old, and Giovanni S., 7 years old

The Gruffalo was showing at the BMCC Tribeca PAC!  Kids News was thrilled to have two of its youngest reporters yet check it out and report back!

My name is William and this weekend I took one of my best friends with me to see The Gruffalo at BMCC Tribeca PAC Theater!  I have read the book a million times and so has he.  We jumped on the train and headed all the way downtown by where my mom works.  We weren’t sure where we were going until we were a block away and we saw a huge BMCC sign.  My mom kept reminding us to look for those letters!  We were ready with our notebooks and expected to see a stage and a monster, but we weren’t sure what we might see.  We walked up a huge hill to get there and the theatre was nice and big.

Hi, I’m Giovanni!  I got to choose the seats we sat in, and I got really lucky because nobody was sitting in front of me so I could see.  There were lots of kids there and we liked the stage.  It had lots of secret doors and a green and orange butterfly that the characters moved back and forth.  The story started and even though we knew what was going to happen, there were songs and cool costumes.  The kids laughed and we all got to roar really loud to scare the animals.

We both agree that Mouse, Fox, Snake, Owl, and the The Gruffalo made the show really fun.  Snake was funny with a long mustache, and Fox ran really fast.  The mouse was so clever and we knew that in the end, The Gruffalo would run away, scared of the little mouse!  The Gruffalo was really funny and we laughed at him when he was trying to figure things out.  We have decided that the lesson of this story is that even the smallest person can be super brave and smart, like us!  We had so much fun at the BMCC Tribeca Performing Arts Center,  especially watching that sneaky mouse!

Guest Mom here!
This theatre didn’t have a bad seat in the house.  Will and Giovanni chose the very last row and still had a great view.  As a parent it was great to see so many kids of all ages, especially small ones.   There was plenty of room for strollers if you have them, and the theatre is spacious.  We have seen The Gruffalo and read the book many times, and this production of the story added some extra charm and music that we all enjoyed.  Worth the trip downtown if you’re uptown, and if you’re downtown, even better!  This was an afternoon well-spent! Thanks, BMCC Tribeca Performing Arts Center – we can’t wait for next season!!
